- Technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, requirements documentation and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences
- Excellent communication skills and strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize disparate information from multiple sources into coherent content
- Coordinate interviews with stakeholders to clarify documentation requirements
- Collate and maintain technical notes and FAQ articles
- Editing, formatting and proofing of all program documentation
- Working closely with the program planner to ensure documents are completed and delivered on-time as well as work with CM to ensure version control of program documentation
- Conduct research of technical manuals and journals to increase understanding of document requirements
- Create effective graphics, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in documentation
- Assists Program Managers, Project Leads, Team Leads, and associated personnel with creating and disseminating written materials
- Maintain and update the supporting documentation (Functional and Technical) for the project using the configuration management tool
- Develop excellent Table of Contents, using organization that is clear and logical
- Ability to comprehend complex ideas and processes, and explain those ideas and processes in simple, easy to understand language
- Develop Indexing that includes all appropriate topics including alternate subject names
- Ensure appropriate grammar and format are consistent with government CDRL requirements
- Assist in establishing and implementing publishing standards compliance
- Participate in formal reviews of deliverable documents, and ensure documents meet editorial and Government specifications as required
Desired Skills – (More than 5 is a Plus)
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in computer science or information technology or equivalent work experience
- Experience working with federal government clients
- Microsoft Office, especially Word, Powerpoint
- MS Project and SharePoint
- HTML
- Dreamweaver or MS FrontPage
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, JSP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and XML
- Adobe RoboHelp or other help authoring tools
- Publications and profession memberships are desirable
- Working knowledge of Rational ClearCase or a similar version control tool is desired
