- Oversee daily system monitoring to include verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, peripherals, services, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Identifying processes, and if possible, automated means of performing regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions
- Designing guidelines and procedures around daily backup operations and ensuring proper execution
- Building contingency plans for, and oversee recovery from, system failures.
- Designing guidelines and procedures around applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities.
- Identifying and implementing a plan on building a scalable test laboratory system testing on various operating systems, and machine configurations.
- Experience with test lab creation/management
- Overseeing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
- Developing and integrating all network communication requirements for routers, switches, hubs, VPN servers, and Remote Access servers related the LAN, MAN and WAN
- Developing test specifications and maintaining automated test cases, tools, and scripts
- Conducting tests to accurately determine the status of product development
- Gathering, cataloging, and distributing data related to product quality test
- Tracking and troubleshooting all test subject bugs and communication issues before product release * Complete understanding of internet protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, NAT, PAT * Designing, configuring, managing and monitoring data, voice and video networks * Experience in network hardware and software configurations that include enterprise class switches, routers, load balancers, DNS, firewalls, DMZ, VPN, IDS, IPS, network monitoring tools, network debugging tools, VoIP telephony infrastructure and call management solutions * Experience with the integration of VoIP solutions with other voice systems to include DSN, PSTN and long distance
- Unclassified and/or classified network designs
- Responsible for applying best practices towards the successful identification, design and development of engineering initiatives, while introducing new technologies into the operational environment.
- Apply creative approaches and innovative thinking to the design of new and enhanced customer network architectures
- Research and recommend cutting edge products, methods and tools to establish world-class, high performance networking in the customer’s environment
- Evaluate existing systems and/or user needs to analyze, design, recommend, and implement system changes.
- Analyze and recommend appropriate network upgrades to support future requirements.
- Develop key life-cycle documents and diagrams as required to support new projects including Concepts of Operations, Analysis of Alternatives, requirements specifications, design specifications, etc.
- Identify and analyze network communications system failover, backups and disaster recovery plans
- Utilize performance monitoring software tools to model and analyze network systems
- Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture as needed
- Manage customer timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful engineering project activities.
- Provide 7x24x365 monitoring and control of networks
